With 2022 beginning, we all have expectations for a better world after the pandemic. Although the previous year was a bane for the entertainment industry, across the globe, it couldn’t stop the makers from delivering some of the most amazing movies and series content on the streaming platforms as well as on the television. To celebrate some of the heart-touching performances, last night was a blast at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, shortly known as SAG Awards.
The 28th edition of the SAG Awards took place at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on February 27. For the unversed, the event celebrates the best performances in films and television from the preceding year. With so many hits that won the hearts of the audience, the event of the SAG Awards was all about appreciating the best of the lot with the trophies. The award ceremony was broadcast live on both TNT and TBS.

The nomination lists this year were quite interesting as many deserving television shows, web series, and films made their way to the lists. Shows and movies from different categories competed with each other including some great ones from Netflix as well. South Korean series Squid Game and Succession from HBO were a big part of the nominations. The nominations in the best film category consisted of CODA, Don’t Look Up, House of Gucci, Belfast, and King Richard, which were some of the big projects last year and gathered a lot of love from the audience.
Lee Jung Jae and Jung Ho-Yeon, the main lead of the Netflix series ‘Squid Games’ won the Best Actor in Drama series award.
Coming to the deserving winners, some of them aced their roles and took the trophies home proudly. The lead actor of the Netflix web series Squid Game, Lee Jung Jae became the first Asian male actor to get an individual nomination for the Best Actor in a drama series and won the award for his outstanding performance in the show. Alongside, Jung Ho-Yeon, who played the female lead also bagged the awards for Best Actor Female in a drama series. Squid Game is considered to have made history by winning multiple awards at the event with such a great performance by the cast. On the other hand, CODA won the top prize at the SAG Awards. The series is an indie drama that revolves around the struggles of a deaf family. Ariana DeBose became the first openly Queer woman, who won the prize for an indie film (West Side Story).
