First, the basics. Crapes is your old school dice game played with a pair of dice. Players can place their bets on the outcome. They can wager money against a bank or each other as well. Around every player gets a chance to be the shooter as long as they have an active pass. The shooter rolls the dice and decides the fate for the entire table. You are either the shooter or placing bets on the shooter’s roll.

This interesting name also has some interesting backstory behind it. The name actually comes from the French word “crapaud” which means “Toad”. This was in reference to the original style of playing craps which was by basically crouching over a floor or sidewalk. Some believe craps was invented by Roman soldiers who played this game with knucklebones of a pig as dice and their armour shields as a table. Others believe that this game has an Arabic upbringing from a dice game called Al Dar and it was brought to Europe in the 12th century.

Playing this game is quite simple and fun. But, don’t just believe us, read for yourself!

Players can place their bets on the outcome. You can place around 40 different bets in Craps.

Bets:

You can place around 40 different bets in this game. Here are the most common bets among them:

1. Pass Line: This bet is quite simple. If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the come-out roll, you win. But if the shooter shoots 2,3 or 12, you lose. Any other number is counted as the point. If the shooter rolls a point before 7, you win while if the shooter rolls a point after 7, you lose.

2. Don’t pass line: As the name suggests, this bet is the opposite of the Pass Line. This bet tests the shooter’s ability to roll a point before rolling a 7. If the shooter rolls 1 or 3, you win automatically, if the shooter rolls 7 or 11, you automatically lose. This roll is of 12 pushes. If the shooter rolls a point after 7, you win, but if they roll a point before 7, you lose.

3. Come Bet: This is a variation of the pass line. In this bet, the next roll is treated the same as the come-out bet. If the next roll results in 7 or 11 you win automatically, but if the result is 2,3 or 12, you automatically lose. If any other number rolls out, the bet transfers to that number. If you roll a 7 before the said number, you lose and if you roll the number before 7, you win.

4. Don’t come bet: Like the come bet, the come-out bet and next roll are treated in the same manner in Don’t Come bet as well, however, it is in terms with the Don’t Pass Line bet. This means, if the shooter rolls 2 and 3 on the next roll, you win but if they roll 7 or 11, you automatically lose. This is a roll of 12 pushes as well. If the shooter rolls the number before 7, you lose and if the shooter rolls 7 before the number, you win.

5. Field Bet: for this bet, you can choose to wager on a range of numbers. These include 2,3,4,9,10,11 or 12. If the roll results in one of these numbers, you win, otherwise you lose. This is a one-roll bet that includes self-service.

6. Place Bets: For this, players have the liberty to place a bet on an individual number. If the shooter rolls a 7 after your selected number, you win.

Procedure for Gameplay:

A round of craps commonly consists of one roll or multiple rolls. The one who rolls the dice is called a shooter. The first roll is known as the come-out roll which majorly determines the course of the game. If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 in the come-out roll for the pass line bet, the players who place their bets win. If the shooter rolls 2, 3 or 12, the prayers lose.

If the shooter rolls any other number, the number becomes the point. The shooter should match this number in a subsequent roll.

If the shooter rolls the established point after rolling a 7, their turn is over. The place is then taken by the next shooter.

You are eligible to become a shooter if you place a bet on the previous roll. You can now choose to become a shooter or pass to the next.

While playing Craps, remember to gamble responsibly and ask for help whenever required.
