interview

Fortunately, my first audition for my debut film was loved by my producer and director who signed me the very same day and that’s when the journey began.

How fun was it shooting for FHM?

Being my first ever FHM cover shoot, the experience was even more special! The team put together a very fashionable sporty look with a cool concept. While hair, makeup, styling and the photographer were all on point, everything was effortless.

What made you change your name from Alia to Kiara?

I didn’t want to confuse the audience by sharing a name that was already familiar to them, that’s why Kiara!

How did you start your Bollywood career? How did you get discovered?

Fortunately, my first audition for my debut film was loved by my producer and director who signed me the very same day and that’s when the journey began.

You played the role of a brash youngster in your debut film “Fugly” and we also saw you riding a bullet there. How was the experience?

Riding a bullet on the mountains of Ladakh made me feel empowered and strong. I’ve never been more in control, I had to or else I would have skid down a mountain, before my first film. I never thought I’d be able to ride a bike and with a bullet I was thrown straight into the deep end and asked to learn to ride the mother of all bikes, accomplishing that felt good, it looked super cool on screen.

Oh, that was something. Would you try your hands again?

I’m not sure I’d want to ride it again unless it is a character in a film.

interview

Comfortable, chic and feminine.

Describe your personal style in three words…

Comfortable, chic and feminine.

Are you just sexy or just cute?

Why not just the right mix of both?

Yeah, for sure. What kind of a person are you when not in front of the camera?

I’m not sure if I ever switch off. Sometimes I catch myself lip singing to the radio in the car with full expressions even when I’m just driving from home to the gym.

What would we find if we stalk you online?

You tell me!

Girl, you take our breath away. Which song do you sing in the shower?

It’s more like a playlist but then sometimes it’s an original Kiara shower mix which has very random lyrics, so long as the pitch seems right to me.

What are your New Year’s plans?

Haven’t decided as yet…

And what about New Year’s resolution?

To be the best version of myself, better than 2017.

In your eyes, what is your best physical feature?

My eyes.

Something that secretly frustrates you?

When I’m asked silly questions.

Tell us your deepest darkest fear?

Losing my loved ones.

What food do you crave most?

Peanut butter.

What movie do you wish life was more like?

Can’t think of a movie but a TV show that comes to mind is Friends. At the end of the day I just want to be happy and when I look back at my life I want to know that I’ve made amazing memories like they did!

Any upcoming projects?

2018 is going to be an exciting year for me. My debut South film with Mahesh Babu will be released; he is one of the biggest superstars of Telugu films. It’s also very challenging as the language is new for me, but I’m excited to see the response of the audience. Along with that, there are two Hindi films that I have committed to; once the announcements are made I’ll be able to talk about it.

Where will we see Kiara Advani in 5 days, 5 weeks and 5 years?

In 5 days I have an extremely exciting look test for a film I can’t wait to share with you; in 5 weeks I’ll be going to Hyderabad to shoot the next schedule of my south film and in 5 years hopefully the next annual issue for FHM?

No I don’t get irritated when I’m asked this and I’ll be honest I’m not.

What about your dating history?

This question I do get irritated with! I’m not a fan of history.

When was your first relationship?

10th grade right before my board exams (not the best time to be in a relationship, that’s also probably why it didn’t work out!)

How does a boy reach you? You dont seem the sort who’s hand over their number on the first date.

(Haha) Well if it’s meant to be he’ll find a way or so I’d like to believe.

Your definition of an ideal man?

Super confident yet super grounded!

Five things that turn you off.

Poor communication skills, bad odour, disrespect, show off, and the kind that tries too hard.
