Casio G-Shock 2500 Series launched in India at ₹9,995 to ₹26,995: the analogue G-Shock gets dressed up

Casio India has launched the all-analogue G-Shock 2500 Series, based on the original DW-5000C, priced from ₹9,995 to ₹26,995 with a clever three-cell Multi-Mission Date window.

Casio India has launched the G-Shock 2500 Series in India, and it is priced from ₹9,995 to ₹26,995. That is a fully analogue, octagonal G-Shock that looks like it belongs at a gallery opening rather than a construction site, yet still shrugs off knocks and a swim. If you have been eyeing a smart-looking everyday watch under ₹30,000, the list just got harder to shortlist.

The range comes in two flavours: the GAC-2500 with a resin case and the GMC-2500 with a metal-clad case. Casio's official series page lists four GAC-2500 colourways and five GMC-2500 versions, which gives you a fair shot at finding one that suits both your office shirt and your weekend tee.

An old shape with new manners

The 2500 takes its case from the DW-5000C, the very first G-Shock, the square-ish legend that started the whole tough-watch story. Casio has softened the contours and gone all-analogue, with a design idea it calls Depth in Shadow: sculpted surfaces, a layered dial and sharply cut indexes that play with light. The dial follows a Two-Eye layout, with a small-seconds subdial at 9 o'clock and a multifunction indicator at 3 o'clock.

The dressier look is not a costume, either. The case shape, the dial layout and the date window all come together to make this the most grown-up G-Shock in years, without losing the brand's famous toughness.

The clever bit: Multi-Mission Date

The party trick sits at 3 o'clock. A small fan-shaped, three-cell window shows the date, but it also shows stopwatch elapsed time and setting information. Casio's official page says the watch runs a full auto-calendar up to 2099, so once it is set, month-ends and leap years are handled for you. No more prising out the crown on the first of every short month.

The toughness survives the makeover. The series keeps G-Shock shock resistance and 200-metre (20-bar) water resistance. The official product page for the steel-bracelet GMC-2500D-1A also lists:

  • Case size of 46.7 x 43.8 x 12.9 mm and a weight of 138 g
  • Stainless steel bracelet with a one-touch three-fold clasp
  • 1-second stopwatch, LED light with amber afterglow, and hand shift feature
  • Battery life of about two years on a CR1025 cell

What it means for Indian buyers

The entry price of ₹9,995 puts the 2500 Series in the same budget as a lot of fashion-brand quartz watches, except this one comes with G-Shock credentials. At the top end, up to ₹26,995, the metal-clad GMC-2500 brings the steel bracelet, integrated case and a dial that will get more second glances in a boardroom than any chunky digital G-Shock ever did. Casio India marked the launch with a media event featuring art installations, and managing director Takuto Kimura called the 2500 Series "an important milestone for G-SHOCK in India".

Casio has not shared model-wise India prices in its launch announcement, so check the variant you want before you buy. For a first G-Shock, the yellow or white GAC-2500 is the fun pick; for a do-everything watch that works with a suit, the steel GMC-2500D is the one to try on.

The FHM take

G-Shock has finally made a watch your dad, your boss and your stylish college friend will all approve of. The 2500 Series keeps the toughness, loses the bulk, and adds a genuinely useful date window. At under ₹30,000 for the top model, it is one of the smartest-looking ways to wear a tough watch to work. We would start with the steel GMC-2500D and thank ourselves later.
