From Germany with love!
The car derives its name from Latin word, Amo, which means I love. There is by no means we’d not love it.

If there is one company that’s taking Make in India seriously, it’s got to be Volkswagen. In its first made in India series, Volkswagen, the German automaker, has come out with Ameo.
In my short career as an auto expert, I have ridden quite a few cars. Some have amazed with their speed and some have just wowed with their elegance. Ameo, doesn’t have anything that will instantly catch your attention. It rather builds. Yes, it does look beautiful, with all the quality work done both inside and outside. What really is good about this car is the way it moves on the roads. There are other compact sedans, but this one more flexible on tight corners and also gives right amount of power on empty roads.

So, as soon as I went about driving it in the Delhi traffic (Oh, you know I don’t need to tell you much about it!), handling was the first thing that impressed. Manoeuvring through the Delhi traffic, without a scratch on the sides is something that every driver dreams of. And the car didn’t disappoint at all. In the sub-4 metre sedan category, it feels like the best VW has made.

As far as the interiors are concerned, the car is loaded. From steering control to cruise control and reverse camera, it has everything that a family desires. The car does have less leg space for the rear room, and when I, a 6 ft tall guy, was sitting behind it did create a little difficulty. But as a driver, I was more than comfortable.

Although I didn’t get much chance to drive in the ‘S’ mode, but as much time as I could get, the car responded with ease. The 1.5 ltr diesel engine with 110hp with 7-speed gearbox shifted quickly and smoothly to give a piece of its mind to the others on the road.
It’s not a looker, but the one who drives will know that from a corner of an eye, everybody has at least once glanced at it!
