How to Banish Bad Breath
Keep your mouth clean: how to deal with your teeth, your tongue and your whole mouth, plus quick fixes for when you're caught short.

1. Teeth
First things first, keep your mouth clean. There’s no substitute for brushing – twice a day, just like your mum taught you – but total oral (snigger) hygiene is important. Food and bacteria build up between teeth and begin to rot, the best way to remove this is with floss.
2. Tongue
Don’t forget your tongue. Bacteria gathers all over your tongue and in the taste buds. The red wine tongue effect happens with everything, you just happen to be able to see it with vino. Use a rubber tongue brush, or toothbrush with soft bristles and make small circular motions. Then retch a bit.

3. Whole mouth
And rinse. A dry mouth will often start to honk. So keep hydrated, as saliva helps clean the mouth moist and helps wash away any distant specks of missed grub. And if you’re caught short in the country, chewing parsley is a quick fix. Also, chewing on a hazel or alder twig makes for a good makeshift toothbrush.
