After grabbing the world’s attention through her digital platform, international model Dare Taylor is set to make her acting debut, and charm her way through our hearts.

Dare Taylor is an amazing woman. Not only is she a top bikini model, actress, and pageant queen, but she is also a winner in life. She has always been of the opinion to let fate and life have their way, and that in the end, everything comes full circle, while aggressively pursuing her goals. Her goal is to empower others to embrace their individuality, and not put limitations on themselves, especially when it comes to the concept of inclusivity and representation in the industry. Edited excerpts follow…

Where you born and where is your professional background? Tell us a bit about your childhood?

I was born and raised in Minnesota, and honestly, my childhood was filled with pageants, dance classes, and figure skating performances. Later I moved to Florida to work for the world-famous theme parks, after which I worked in the entertainment sector for Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and Medieval Times for three years. Aside from this I was also focusing and working on my Instagram Modeling career. I got discovered by a director, due to which I moved out to Los Angeles.

What inspired you to take up modeling as a career? Also, what made you step into this competitive industry?

Honestly, modeling was sheer luck for me. I always thought of myself to be known for my acting skills or performances, but modeling comes to me naturally. It started out by just being done for one photographer, which gradually took a shift to others, and I haven’t seen it back since.

In what ways are you different from your contemporaries? What was the biggest rookie mistake you made when you were just starting out?

I would say my personality always sets me apart. I try to make my shoots an experience for not only the photographer but for me as well with fun, laughs, and giggles. I would say my biggest mistake was signing over my rights (images, videos) with a few companies right off the bat. But that also helped kick start my modeling career, so I can’t complain too much about it.

From being the “Miss Bikini Model” of the year 2019 to gracing the covers of many international magazines over the years. How would you like to describe your glorious journey?

I’m lucky to have had very diverse and unique successes in my professional life. But they never came easily, it took a lot of hard work, interaction with the right people, and dedication. I would describe my journey as glamorous from the outside but faced with a lot of sweat and failures on the inside. But in the end, it was all worth it.

According to you, what are the advantages, and disadvantages of being a model?

The advantages are all the wonderful people you get to meet who root for your success and growth. But on the contrary, people can also be the biggest disadvantage; as quite a few of them are in this business for the wrong reasons and want to see others fail, dramatically. But this is the case with every career path, as for me I believe in ignoring the haters, keeping my head held high, and moving forward.

Being a versatile and talented individual, we have read that you also enjoy your time brushing up your acting skills. What attracted you to begin a career as an actor?

I competed in pageants as a young girl and won a few national acting competitions within the pageant industry. That’s how I knew I wanted to act, I loved making people laugh and react to the silly things, I did.

There’s so much pressure on models and actors to only support the idea of outer beauty, with a major focus on physical attributes. What advice would you give to the industry leaders, with reference to inclusivity?

I think we need to push the boundaries of what the word, ‘beauty’ defines. Over the years, I have seen quite a few beautiful faces, but they don’t turn out to be even a little as stunning on the inside. I believe everyone should be given an equal opportunity to showcase their work ethic and talent.

I would also want a multitude of casting to be done on such parameters. Such as for me, I am mostly cast as chirpy characters, but I’d also like to be cast as strange characters that are perceived as “attractive.” The advice I would give to others is to know that all the big actors had horrible, crazy, and unfortunate auditions. It’s almost part of the “rite of passage” to Hollywood.

How and when did your journey of being a YouTuber come about? What motivated you to try out this platform?

I always watched YouTube and wanted to become a YouTuber, ever since. When I was about ten I started watching videos online and wanted to be a digital personality myself. So, I made it happen by being a one-woman show, wherein I edit, film, and plan every single video.

Are you ever nervous about posting new videos? Do you feel like you have a certain standard to uphold? Does that hinder or help you as a creator?

I think everybody feels like they have a standard to uphold. But it always pushes me to be the best, so that I can put out the most loved videos. It’s all a learning curve and some days are good, some days are bad. You just have to roll with the punches.

Being a popular social media star, it is a given that you have a positive fan following. Having said that, trolls leave no stone unturned when it comes to pulling someone down. How have you learned to harness the spirit of optimism, without letting negative criticism affect you?

Everybody has haters, there is no exception to that. I had to deal with a lot of bullying and harassment starting all the way back in high school, but I never let it phase me out. To be honest it made me want to be even weirder and express my creative side out loud. I guess the best advice to put out there to anyone reading this is just to be yourself and anyone who doesn’t like it doesn’t really have to be in your life. Do what makes you happy.

Have all your career moves come about as a matter of proactive choice of the next thing you want, or have they been unforeseen breaks due to your excellent networking?

A lot of my career moves have sort of fallen into my lap unexpectedly. I had no idea that I would be living in Los Angeles right now. Honestly, a lot of big events in my life have come through meeting the right people. I think it’s good to calculate and plan for the future. But it’s also good to be open-minded and ready for when fate lets things happen. Sometimes things will catch you off guard, and they will be the most exciting events in your life and it’s important to embrace them.

We have also read that when you’re off-camera, you use your time helping communities and businesses flourish multifold. What makes you wake up every morning, thinking about helping others?

To me it’s not about making a worldly impact, it’s about helping your next-door neighbor. It’s about small acts of kindness that can make someone’s day. For me, even donating a small amount of money can have a huge impact on someone’s life. I don’t wake up every day thinking about whom I can help and when rather I am always focused on having positive interactions with people around me.

What does your current workout regimen look like? Do you prefer sticking to a routine or experimenting with different fitness modules trending these days?

I work out every single day, with some rest days, depending on how I feel. I like to have a strict workout schedule, but sometimes I break it because you have to listen to your body. I like experimenting with different fitness techniques and exercises. But all in all, I am a pretty active person all around, and I hope to always stay hail and hearty.

If you could trade places with anybody for a day, who would it be and why?

I honestly wouldn’t trade places with anyone, as I’m very happy with my life and all the people I choose to surround myself with. I couldn’t ask for anything else.

Tell us something about your upcoming projects.

Unfortunately, I can’t go into a lot of details, but I will be starring in an upcoming film. My online work will continue to grow, I hope to start a twitch stream in the coming month, and I’m sure my YouTube platform will branch out into different genres.

Being cast in this upcoming action comedy film, for which the filming process will be starting soon and I am beyond excited for it.

If you could talk to the President what would you talk about?

I would ask him to make recycling a must in every home. I know other countries have implemented recycling as a normal day to day chore and I think America needs to as well. Our planet is depending on it.

What’s heavily played on your music playlist right now?

Mostly Demi Lovato songs and anything that screams “go take on the day”.

What is something you will not be doing in ten years?

Hopefully not spending as much time in quarantine (laughs). I can’t wait for this to be over and for all of us to be out and about again.

I’m not a big fan of key lime or coconut-based desserts.

Where was the best vacation you’ve ever taken?

Honestly haven’t taken a vacation in a long time, as I love my job so much I bring it with me, everywhere I go.  But, I loved visiting Miami and when I didn’t live in LA I enjoyed my work trip here too.

What is your spirit animal?

I would say a fox or some sort of quirky squirrel, maybe. I’m open to suggestions (laughs).

Most loved fashion trend of all time?

I am a sucker for glasses with no lenses in them. I absolutely adore wearing thick-rimmed glasses as an accessory to make a bold statement.

Name one thing you’ve learned the hard way? Nothing worth doing ever comes easy.

“I’m lucky to have had very diverse and unique successes in my professional life. But they never came easily, it took a lot of hard work, interaction with the right people, and dedication.”
