Shraddha Kapoor is finally stepping back into the spotlight, and she is doing it to the beat of a dholki. Maddock Films has announced that the trailer of Eetha, the biographical drama in which she plays the Marathi Tamasha and Lavani legend Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, will be out on Friday, October 30, 2026. A fresh poster came with the announcement, along with a firm reminder that the film arrives in cinemas on December 4, 2026.

For a film that first teased us back in June, that is a long wait finally coming to an end. Eetha was originally pencilled in for August before moving to its December slot, and the makers have kept fans hungry ever since.

Who is making Eetha

The film is directed by Laxman Utekar, the man behind Luka Chuppi, Mimi and the blockbuster Chhaava. It is produced by Dinesh Vijan, Laxman Utekar and Karishma Sharma under the Maddock Films banner, which makes it another Vijan-Utekar collaboration after Chhaava. Music is by Ajay-Atul, the composer duo whose Marathi roots should feel right at home in a story steeped in Maharashtra's folk stage.

Shraddha leads a cast that includes Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Siddharth Jadhav, Anant Joshi, Akshara Singh and Ulka Gupta. That is a serious line-up of performers, with Hooda and Ayyub both known for disappearing into intense roles.

Why this one matters for Shraddha

Eetha is Shraddha Kapoor's first big-screen outing since Stree 2 in 2024, a film that turned into a box-office blockbuster. It is also her first standalone lead for Maddock outside the Stree horror-comedy world, which means no chanderi ghosts to share the credit with this time.

The role is a sharp turn. Vithabai Narayangaonkar was a celebrated Marathi folk artist known for Tamasha and Lavani, art forms that are loud, fast, witty and fiercely physical. The first-look posters, released in June, showed Shraddha in a traditional Nauvari saree, and the teaser that followed made it clear that this is a full-blooded period drama rather than a glossy dance film.

When and where to watch

Mark two dates. The trailer lands on Friday, October 30, 2026, on Maddock Films' official channels. The film itself releases in cinemas across India on December 4, 2026, so book your seats once advance sales open on your usual ticketing app.

December is shaping up to be a crowded month at the movies, with Shah Rukh Khan's King set for December 24. Eetha gets a three-week head start, which gives it room to build word of mouth before the holiday rush.

The FHM take

Biopics of folk artists rarely get the big-studio, big-star treatment in Hindi cinema, and that alone makes Eetha worth watching for. Pair Laxman Utekar's knack for crowd-pleasing drama with Ajay-Atul's music and a lead actor who has been away from the screen for two years, and you have a film that could surprise a lot of people. Our bet: the trailer will be judged on one thing, whether Shraddha can own the Lavani stage. If she can, December 4 belongs to her.
