Small, Simple and Suited

Sprocket is HP’s solution to portable instant printing that can print directly from your smartphone, anytime, anywhere since it is one of the smallest printers we have ever seen. I feel this is not only a printer but an exciting fun gadget that can provide the right moment for your wall just in a blink of an eye. This printer uses no ink, in order to apply liquid or powder on paper, and doesn’t print on any media larger than 2 x 3 inches (5.0 x 7.6cm) and it uses the Zink technology.

The HP’s Sprocket technology uses paper encrusted with several layers of translucent dye in fabrication. These dyes are set off in the printer with the pulsation of heat in diverse length and amount from a thermal print top. Then these dyes turn into cyan, magenta and yellow, to give a coloured image with a solo pass of the paper through the printer.

I have found no difficulty operating this device. I just downloaded the Sprocket app on my phone and have used fun filters and stickers which are there by default. If you have an iPhone, you got yourself some more advantages as the print for multiple file types such as BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG and TIFF can only have the iOS software. So, I felt lucky to have an iPhone.

Now coming to other stuff, the printer comprises a box like a compact camera, but with no lenses. There’s a small gap at the frontage, from where the photos come out like magic and a Micro USB hole at the back to recharge the batteries with the provided cable. It takes approximately 80 to 90 minutes to recharge and a single charge is good for 20 to 25 prints.

I am geared up to preserve my memories with the help of HP Sprocket that fits my palm so easily.
