Smokin’ aces: Zareen Khan
She doesn’t want to become the jack of all trades, she wants to master them. From Hindi to Tamil to Punjabi, Zareen Khan is doing it all. We sat down with her to get candid and boy, those over the top questions didn’t get her awkward.

Hey Zareen, first thing first. Is it Zareen Khan or Zarine Khan?

It’s Zareen Khan.

Your last movie came in 2012. What have you been up to all this while? Well, I’ve been right here waiting for a good movie to come my way, which eventually did. I was happy that I didn’t take up those random movie offers that came my way in the meanwhile. I also did a Punjabi film and won the PTC best debut actress award. So, you want to become a jack of all trades?
Nope... I wanna master them!
How did Hate Story 3 happen? What are you doing in the movie?
Hate Story 3 came as a surprise to me. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it, but when I heard the script and my role... That was it, there was no looking back. I’m very happy that I took this decision of doing this film. It’s worth all the wait and to know what I’m doing in the movie, you will have to go to theatres on 4th December to watch it!
How difficult is it to do franchise movies like Hate Story, which are erotic and sensuous in nature? You will always be compared to the women who did it in the past!
It’s not difficult because erotic and sensuous things are a part of every other film these days. It’s just that the Hate Story franchise comes under the category of bold films but it’s not a film that we are trying to sell for its erotic content. The film has a super amazing story line and that’s what made me do the film. As far as the comparisons go, I don’t think I’m bothered about that as they’ve always been a part of my life since I’ve entered the film industry (laughs).

Have you gotten over with Katrina’s lookalike tag?
I guess I have... But it’s actually the people around who need to get over it!
Was it really you who played her body-double in Yuvraaj?
No!
Nightlife is Mumbai’s culture. Did you ever step out for a night without telling your parents during college days?

Well, I’ve always been the one to get permission for all this. As a parent, I only have my mom and she has always trusted me, so never had to do anything behind her back (winks)!
Let’s get a bit embarrassing now. Have you ever been to men’s loo?
Yes ... But it was an emergency and at that time, I didn’t care!
Do you like the idea of a no strings attached relationship?
Depends on what kind of a relationship it is (winks)!

Have you ever indulged in sexting and sent the message to the wrong person?
No... I have never really indulged myself in sexting.
What’s your favourite shade when you are picking lingerie?
It’s either red or black! They are the classic shades.
Describe the term ‘ideal man’…
I don’t really think that species even exists (laughs). But for me, my ideal man will be someone who accepts and understands me without wanting to change me. We should enjoy and share our craziness. Someone with whom I can have random conversations that don’t necessarily have to make sense. And yes, he should have a great sense of humour!
What are the other projects lined up for future? We are waiting to see you more on-screen.
I’m going to start my next Hindi film in March. And also I will start filming for my second Punjabi film in December.
From the November 2015 issue of FHM India.
