Style news: badged jackets, Beckham’s H&M basics and more

Badged jackets are big for spring

When you think of Jack Wills, you think of preppy students living in the nicer end of town, driving Mini Coopers. Well, it’s time to disregard that particular stereotype, because Jack Wills has hired a new creative director who’s added some much-needed edge to the brand. The guy behind the new collection is Richard Nicoll, the genius British designer who’s designed threads for everyone from the likes of Louis Vuitton to Fred Perry. Nicoll has ditched the company’s notorious OTT logo hoodies in favour of modern prints, laid-back outerwear and a whole load of This is England style embroidered badges. How will the posh lads of Britain react to the change? Who knows. But we like it. Jacket, ₹7,660; t-shirt, ₹2,850; trousers, ₹5,250, all jackwills.com

Beckham backs H&M

David Beckham’s only gone and given a big D-Beck seal of approval to his favourite pieces from H&M’s new season. Wearing them will make you roughly one percent as attractive as him. Which is still a lot, if you think about it.

New drops

March and April are dates to stick in your diary as ‘new drop’ months – the time of the year that brands release their creations for the summer season ahead. If you’re a sneakerhead that means one thing: fresh footwear from Gourmet. Investing in a pair of these design-heavy, boundary-pushing creps is a proper smart way to spend March’s pay packet. They’ll see you through what’s sure to be a summer of stinking hot festivals, endless barbecue’s in the park and more day time pub crawls than you can shake a wobbly, sun-burned leg at.
