Style Upgrade: Inderjit Nagi’s Wardrobe

Qualified as a Fashion Designer, Inderjit is a creatively inclined individual. Apart from teaching fashion students, he is also a known stylist and has worked with some of India’s best photographers, movie stars and models. With a keen interest in writing, he has written for L’Officiel-India and freelanced for Spice Route. It’s his love for all things creative that attracted him towards showbiz and started the brand, Item Number with Syed Ali Arif. Personal Style

At times, it’s classy, and at times it’s quirky, fun and colourful. I love clothes and love to experiment with different looks. I believe in style more than in following fashion blindly.

Style Prediction

Digital prints are the next big thing in menswear. Many international designers have come up with men’s clothing with prints of paintings, personalities, cityscapes, landscapes, animals and other inspirations on them, and these are soon going to be found at a store near you.

Pants

Pants

As much as I love jeans, I have a weakness for a good pair of comfortable, well-cut pants that have a snug (but not extra-tight) fit. Since pop colours have already made their debut in menswear, I have them in red, cobalt blue, mint green and yellow! But these Jodhpurs that I got tailored from a store in Udaipur are my all-time favourite.

Cotton Jodhpur pants: Tailored in Udaipur – ₹3,250

T-shirts

T-shirts

I'm a t-shirt person, hands down. I own them in different colours, prints and styles. I'm not too kicked about message tees, but I'm partial to those with quirky prints, whether digital or transfer or a mix of printing techniques. A year ago, while in Hyderabad, a local friend introduced me to a store called Splash that has a huge collection of t-shirts. Now whenever I'm in that city I buy them in loads.

T-shirts: Splash, Hyderabad – ₹500 each

Shirts

For me shirts have to be slim fit. I do not understand why anyone would wear boxy shirts with oversized shoulders and ill-fitted sleeves. I like my shirts to be just the right fit and there has to be an element of something interesting in them — be it colour, print, fabric or style. My shirts are never boring.

Shirt: Outfits, Bandra, Mumbai – ₹1,250

Jacket

Although the weather in Mumbai doesn't permit it, but I do own a range of second layers that I like to put on when dressing up for a more semi-formal to formal setting. This one caught my eye the minute I stepped inside Zara and I knew I just had to buy it. Its versatility is indescribable and it goes with almost everything in my wardrobe.

Jacket: Zara, Mumbai – ₹3,790

Waistcoat

Waistcoat

I wear a lot of waistcoats with T-shirts and pants on night-outs with friends. This particular one I like because of its shape and styling with the buttons.

Waistcoat: Boy London, Mumbai – ₹1,050

Pullover

Pullover

Another very stylish garment to wear during nippy weather is a pullover, which keeps you warm and adds a touch of glam at the same time. Zara pullovers for me please!

Pullover: Zara – ₹1,750

Boxers

Boxers

Nothing is more comforting in the privacy of your home than a pair of cotton boxers. Quirky prints catch my fancy and I own various boxers with prints ranging from animals to superheroes to cars and cartoon characters. No favourite brand as such.

Boxers: Abercrombie & Fitch – ₹550

Stoles

There’s something very stylish about sporting a stole as an accessory —whether it’s a checkered Afghani stole during summers or a multi-hued woolen one for winters – I simply love the effect they have on your overall look. Besides being functional, they frame the face and also up your style-quotient.

Stoles: Local Street – ₹450 each

Ties

I’m not much into ties, but whenever I do wear them, I opt for bold-patterned or printed ones. While wearing them, I make sure to keep the rest of the colours in the outfit muted.

Ties: Local Street – ₹350

Sunglasses

My eyes are super sensitive to light, and besides, I wear contacts and so sunglasses are a must for me when outdoors for protection. I have a variety of them that include funky frames, retro styles and even classic ones. These sunglasses from Chanel are one I just can’t part with.

Bag

My undying penchant for travel takes me to places and when on the go, I can’t do without this duffle. It’s hand-made with distressed camel leather and I spotted it in a tiny, almost-invisible shop close to City Palace, Udaipur. It even has my name engraved on it!

Bag: Local Street, Udaipur – ₹2,500/-

Shoes

I never ignore what I wear on my feet — be it brogues or loafers, they just have to look great, be versatile and be downright comfortable. This pair I found at a store in Bandra and they are my current favourite.

Shoes: Crystal Shoppers Paradise Mall, Bandra – Rs, 900

Perfume

Perfume

Honestly, I have a liking for perfumes and own many good fragrances. D&G’s The One does it for me with its unmatched smell.

Perfume: Dolce & Gabbana, The One, ₹4,500

Badges

Badges

I collect badges from various places I travel to in India and around the world and have quite a collection. I wear them on my shirt or pin them to my bag.

Badges: ₹100 to ₹300
