Diet of Persian Cats

There are a lot of food items that your Persian cat will enjoy eating. Persians actually love to eat protein that is found in quality wet and dry foods. Persians need a high protein, low carb diet to stay healthy and you will also need to include a few fats and avoid fillers which are sometimes found in the cheaper foods and brands. They love meat and they need to be on a balanced diet or their health will get affected. And don’t forget to give them water or they’ll become dehydrated which could lead to kidney diseases and feline UTIs.

But, there are a few foods that your cat will need to avoid. This includes foods that indicate corn or grain meals as the first ingredient – since cats are carnivores, foods with such cheap fillers need to be avoided. Avoid foods that have BHA, BHT, rendered fat, or any food dye in them. Carbohydrates are not a requirement for your Persian, so check the labels for the quantity of them in the food you’re buying for your cat. And if you happen to see Propylene Glycol (PG) in any of your pet foods, don’t even think about purchasing it. It can actually kill your cat.
