Hoaxes That Fooled the World
Some of the most recent Hoax events which made news around the world:
Taylor Swift: Rumors began swirling when a Twitter account — which claimed to be associated with MTV News — issued a post indicating that Swift was found dead at her home, early in August. Seems like the country singer is a soft target for people willing to make such ripples, as this was the second time Swift was involved in a death rumor.
North East’s Flee: Tens of thousands of north-east migrants fled from the urban areas after a series of rumors came forward via SMSes and on social media, that Muslims would attack them after the Ramadan. Fire to the fuel was added when fake photos started appearing online of the possible massacre.
Russel Brand, ex husband of Katy Perry, is the latest victim of death Hoax. Reports started doing rounds on the net, alleging that Brand had died in a snowboarding accident in Switzerland. He took the rumors lightly and started mocking the rumor news on his twitter page.
Fake tropical storm named Isaac, purportedly to hit Florida, USA, made strong news and garnered a lot attention of concerned inhabitants.
'Project X’ named parties hyped through social media in Canada. It all started with an open invitation on Facebook for people to turn out this weekend at an undisclosed Langley home. Many clicks later, word of a “Project X” party in Langley had reached youth across the states, with thousands responding to a Facebook invitation saying they planned to attend.
