Welcome to FHM India, when did you come to know that you wanted to become an actor, and what was your inspiration behind it?
It’s hard to pinpoint because I feel it’s always been organic to my nature. Since my first memory, I’ve always been very aware of the creative stirrings that make things enjoyable, and I’ve surrounded myself with art, beauty, and other creatives. Acting is a natural way for me to add to the collective pool.
We all face difficulties and barriers while starting our careers. What were the difficulties that you faced and how did you overcome them?
Spending time away from my loved ones was probably my biggest challenge when I began. I was very fortunate to be in a situation where work gave me the luxury of travel, but it came at the price of missing some valuable, once-in-a-lifetime family events.

If you were given a chance to be stranded on an island with someone from Hollywood, who would it be?
Florence Lawrence. She was a stage and film actress who was often referred to as the ‘First Movie Star’ and was thought to be the first film actor to be named publicly. It would be amazing to get into the head of the first real trailblazer, hear her thoughts, and try to grasp her feelings at the beginning of something that was about to change the entire world!
What message would you like to give to the people suffering from Cancer? How do you cope with it?
It’s often easier said than done, but a positive attitude is worth its weight in gold. Sometimes it’s an impossible task when it feels like you are trying to push a boulder up a hill, but the human mind and body are capable of miracles. Remember that it’s ok to feel down or overwhelmed or scared – allow yourself to feel these feelings. But try not to get bogged down in them. Tomorrow is another day, and we have more say than we realize about how that day will go.
I have repeated dreams where my hair has magically grown back, and I wonder where it went!
After seeing you in short hair and long hair, we want to know which look you prefer and why?
I love both looks equally! However, I feel that the short hair fits how I’m feeling. It still feels like a fresh start and a reflection of a new attitude. Who knows how I’ll feel in the days to come? I have repeated dreams where my hair has magically grown back, and I wonder where it went! It’s essential to allow yourself the freedom to mix things up and not get locked into any particular look.
How important do you think fitness is in one’s life? What fitness regime do you follow daily?
Fitness is an essential part of life. When a person’s body is ignored, it deteriorates, and the mind will soon follow. That doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym and work out 2 hours a day. But it does mean being active. Instead of driving to the store, why not walk? I prefer incorporating fitness into my everyday life whenever possible. I love riding my bike through the city, where there is so much to explore. Now that spring is finally here; I am looking forward to spending hours on my bike. I love crossing the Brooklyn Bridge and riding up the west side highway. Little steps will carry you incredible distances.

Talking about love, what do you think are the qualities that you seek in your better half?
Compassion, kindness, and humour are probably the top three qualities I look for. Of course, there also has to be that spark!
You have worked in Hollywood for quite a long time now. What is the one thing that you want to change about the industry?
I think Hollywood has made great strides in how women are treated! However, I believe there is still progress to be made. Walking into a room and knowing everyone will be heard, respected, and treated equally is not just an ask but a requirement. I’m currently producing a film and will not tolerate anyone, not on board with this philosophy. I love where our world is headed, the inclusion of everyone, and enjoying our differences and what they each offer.
Have confidence in yourself, and don’t let anyone forge the path for you. Respect yourself.
Are you working on some projects that we don’t know about? Please shed some light on them.
I am currently co-starring and producing a series that is being developed for the streaming market. Pre-production for the fourth installment is underway, and we hope to begin filming by the beginning of next month. In addition, I am writing a children’s book! When my son couldn’t sleep, I’d spend all night with him telling him stories until he dozed off. This was born from that. I have been working with an illustrator and can’t wait until it is ready to share! I am also in pre-production on a film shot in June.
Our readers were quite excited to have you on board; what is the message you want to convey to them?
Have confidence in yourself, and don’t let anyone forge the path for you. Respect yourself. You are worthy of it, and if you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. Life continues to present blessings and obstacles; create and consistently work on being the person you are proud to be! Be the person you would want to look up to!
