Q- Hailing from the largest country in the entire world, why did you choose to feature in Hollywood rather than the Russian film industry?
My dream came true when I left Russia for my first international job. I always wished to be a model and an actress. I really worked hard, I did ballet when I was a small girl, acting classes and I went to a few different modelling schools. I always knew that the Russian industry is not big enough and suitable for me. For a few reasons. America namely Hollywood is a magical place. You have freedom of speech there, if you work hard, meet the right people and you need a bit of luck of course too, you can make our own path, career, a way in life which you will be in charge of. We can’t compare the Russian film industry with America, with Hollywood. They have different mentality and politics. I enjoy working with different directors, and a variety of people who are in America. I can learn from them.
Q- You adorn a natural and glorious glow on your skin. What is the secret behind it?
Firstly, thank you for your compliment, I really appreciate it. I am lucky to have good genes. I am not white; from my family background I am mixed. I love healthy outdoor life style and I spent lots of time outside on the sun, but I never forget to put sunblock. To be Hydrated is the basis of it, I love natural products like virgin olive oil and my favourite is Victoria secret’s cream. Of course, I exfoliate my face about twice a week. I sleep a lot; I don’t drink alcohol and I don’t smoke. I drink plenty of water and fresh vegetable juices and I eat fresh organic food, I love Mediterranean cuisine.
Q- We see you are a backpacker on Instagram. Amongst the wilderness of this beautiful world, what is your favourite spot?
Yes, I travel a lot, but I still didn’t decide which is the perfect spot for me to settle and call home yet. I love sun, sea, blue sky and warm weather, but I can’t stand winter and cold. Challenge in my work is that when I start liking some place, I have to usually pack and move to a different country or continent for another job. Sometimes I feel like that airport are my second home. That’s why exotic, beautiful island, with blue, warm sea is the best place for me to relax, enjoy and switch off. Is there anybody willing to invite me to some beautiful place like Hawaii?
Q- You have been trending on the popular short-video sharing platform, TikTok. What would you like to suggest to people that are just starting TikTok?
I love dancing, acting and performing for me on TikTok is the perfect platform which tells me how to be in touch with my fans & followers. It’s easy, put your favourite song on loud, short skirt, crop top, make up a dance, choose some interesting place and just make it happen.
Q- Falling in love with your moves, everyone would like to know more your inclination towards dancing.
Thank you, I think I was a natural since I was a young girl. I feel music very well I can also sing. Since I was young, I was taking music and dancing classes. I love music and dancing so much. It is the way for me to express myself, to be myself without being judged. And of course, I get lots of compliments when I dance, it is something I can do well.
Q- Being a bold personality yourself, what do you think is the element that makes a female look fierce and audacious?
Elegance, confidence and sexuality makes a real woman. Each woman is unique and different. But if you feel beautiful & are comfortable in your own skin, it will shine it through out and men will definitely notice it. Rightly selected clothes, colours which fit to your body type, beautiful shoes, accessories, a suitable perfume and appropriate make up. With these things you can find out what kind of woman is in front of you. Spoil yourself with shopping, yes you deserve it. New collections are unbelievable, new designers very talented. Be always neat, you never know who you will going to meet, even if you are just going outside with a trash can.
Q- How much do you think that fitness is in everybody’s life? What are some of the things that you do to remain fit?
Fitness and a healthy life style were always part of my life, since I was a young girl. My life was mostly around my dancing, music classes and ballet school. It was very intense and serious at that time. It taught me discipline and also shaped my body in the right way. I am very grateful for the foundations of my childhood. When I got older and began to travel, I discovered other forms of exercising, like jogging, swimming and healthy eating. You can exercise so much, but if your diet is bad, it wouldn’t make a difference and you wouldn’t feel good. Lots of people stop exercising after a while, because they don’t see and feel the benefits.
Q- We see a unique and eye-catching fashion sense prospering in you. How do you think that entertainment and fashion have evolved since you began working in this industry?
Thank you for noticing. Yes, I would like to call myself a fashionista and sometimes shopaholic (but still in a normal way). The fashion industry definitely exploded with the advent of the internet and social media. It became more affordable for lots of people. I have my online shop & boutique as www.mariarya.com and it is growing every day. I am very proud of it, I put lots of energy in to that idea and the business and is definitely for expressing myself.
Q- What if someone really falls for you and wants to take you out on a dinner date? What all do you seek in a man?
Ah, you are making me think now. I have a specific taste in men. But also, it doesn’t mean that I don’t want to be surprised. In the beginning he should not push too hard; he should be a gentleman. A man must have a class. If we talk just about a first date, dinner it is. He could try to impress me with some romantic special place with a nice view and definitely it has to be exciting and an interesting night. In a man I am looking for honesty, he has to be smart, intelligent, creative, funny and most important a gentleman. I like to be spoiled and pampered. And of course, he has to respect my work.
Q- As a female model or an actress, what were some of the difficulties you faced in the industry?
When I started, I was very young, I didn’t have anybody to help me or advise me about this industry. It wasn’t easy to find and understand boundaries and rules in this strange world. It is very important to say that it is a dangerous world and you need to know how it works. Each country has different rules, you will meet lots of strange people, who will be dishonest & would want to use you or want to just sleep with you. A young girl or girls who are starting their careers in this business don’t know what are their rights, or even how to say NO. Fortunately I had a very strong upbringing, I know how to look after myself and I have a big mouth to say what I always wanted since I was very young. I am a very social person, but I am very busy and travel a lot. Often, I feel lonely but fortunately I have social media and I keep in touch with my fans and followers daily and it makes me feel connected. This has helped me deal with some of the challenges.
Q- What are some of the future projects that you are working on?
Lots of stuff is going on in my life right now. To mention a few, I work very hard as a model to build up my brand name – MARIA RYA. This has become a famous brand in the fashion and erotic industry.
