Chakravyuh

Chakravyuh

After Aarakshan’s debacle, will Chakravyuh be the winner that Jha is waiting for? We’ll have to wait and watch!

From Prakash Jha’a camp comes another hard-hitting political thriller, which tells the story of Naxalites and their problems. Starring Arjun Rampal, Abhay Deol, Esha Gupta, Manoj Bajpai and Kabir Bedi, Chakravyuh also takes a dig at Inspector Dhoble, which was seen in the first episode of the online comic – a marketing strategy used by Jha to promote this film.

The story revolves around two brothers – Arjun Rampal and Abhay Deol, who apparently stand on opposite sides of the law. If rumours are to be believed, Esha Gupta is portraying a character based on Kiran Bedi.

With a de-glam appearance, Chakravyuh is loaded with fight scenes and shootouts. For music, Salim-Sulaiman have created songs that fit the bill. Their song Tata, Birla, Ambani aur Bata ran into trouble in the beginning, but was later released with a disclaimer mentioning that names were only for symbolic reference.

The film that is all set for a World Premiere at the 56th BFI London Film Fest is out on October 24, 2012.

Killing Them Softly

Killing Them Softly

Mafia, crime, money and nasty guns – the film has everything to be a box office stunner.

This one is a typical American crime thriller that stars Brad Pitt in a grungy look – something that we much prefer over Daniel Craig’s upcoming Bond look. Killing Them Softly is for men (like us) who like an engaging plotline, and a Mexican-type scenario complete with mafia, guns and shootings.

Movie Marathon

Based on the book, Cogan's Trade by George V. Higgins, it’s about a heist that takes place around a well-guarded game of poker. Professional hatchet, Jackie Cogan (Brad Pitt) has been given the task to investigate the crime and go on a killing spree, gunning down everyone involved in it.

The reunion of Brad Pitt and filmmaker Andrew Dominik after The Assassination of Jesse James is definitely going to be worth every penny, especially when Pitt is set to give another shivering performance.

The film is out on October 5, 2012.

Cloud Atlas

Though the storyline is not that impressive, Tom Hanks and Halle Berry would draw viewers’ interest reagrdless.

An epic sci-fi and fantasy film, it boasts of one of the biggest star cast. Based on the novel of the same name by David Mitchell, it stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant in lead roles. Making the film appear as real as possible, actors get into the skin of their character through their imake-up and dialogue delivery, as seen from the trailers.

Humankind through its actions and wrongdoings impacts the lives of one another in the past, present and future. Mystery, thrill and drama weave the story as one life is created from a killer to a hero and one kind act through centuries’ forces a revolution to take place in the future. The novel, which had six stories all with some sort of connection has been wrapped in one packaging to make it a 2 hours, 43 minutes long movie.

Movie Marathon

Cloud Atlas definitely appears to be unique and the helmers – Lana Wachowski, Tom Tykwer, and Andy Wachowski have strived to create a set-up that has never been seen before.

Now whether this plot will draw the attention of movie buffs or not, we will only get to know when it releases on October 26, 2012.

Student of the Year

Student of the Year

Though we are not quite impressed with the star cast, the music has its moments.

KJo’s latest offing moves away from family dramas and focuses on college life. There‘s no SRK and Kajol or other A-listers, but true to style, Johar peppers this one with enough drama, fun and naach gaana to keep you hooked.

SOTY focuses on the lives of three campus-goers Abhimanyu Singh (Sidharth Malhotra), Rohan Nanda (Varun Dhawan) and Shanaya Singhania (Alia Bhatt). Their friendship, love, fights and the ultimate goal of becoming ‘Student of the Year’ forms the crux.

The newcomers look promising and will hopefully give competition to the younger league of the industry. Music wise Vishal Shekhar’s The Disco Song is already a chartbuster, while Ishq Wala Love is romantic and melodious.

The film will be out on October 19, 2012
