Rock n roll with… the top albums of the month
Put on your headset and plug in those jacks. It’s time to add a background score to your life, with the top music albums of last month.

Iron Maiden – The Book of Souls
Genre: Heavy Metal
The band needs no introduction and this is their 16th studio album. Yes, we know how jaws drop. It’s also their longest so far, with enough metal (read material) to keep you hooked for 92 long minutes. The Book of Souls does bring to life what the phrase ‘pushing it too far’ means, only this time it’s inside out.

Family of the Year – Family of the Year
Genre: Indie Rock/Folk

With slick production, accessible lyrics and familiar melodies, this album has everything that fans of this genre kill for. It delivers on all these levels and does so without the slightest trace of any pretence. Heavily inspired by styles of Fleetwood Mac.

Scarface – Deeply Rooted
Genre: Hip-Hop

Scarface has been one of the best songwriters and the most thought-provoking rappers of the genre. This one’s no different. The track Deeply rooted starts with the lines, “You win some, you lose some/Life in a nutshell,” and you know you’re in for the entire album.

Joey Cape – Stitch Puppy
Genre: Rock

With poetic lyrics, set to acoustic instrumentation (guitar, piano, cello, mandolin, percussion) and driven by strong melodies, this third studio album by the vocalist of the punks Lagwagon is his best so far.
Pugwash – Play This Intimately (As If Among Friends)
Genre: Pop
Pugwash partake of a legitimate musical heritage laid by The Beatles, in the form of ‘British Rock’ in this album. The songs are mostly melodic, mellow and often pastoral in their sound, and interestingly also show a hint of acid-tinged psychedelia.
From the October 2015 issue of FHM India.
