Shibani Dandekar: The New Style Guru

She has visited almost every country you can mark on the globe, has hit the best night spots, is always the first one in the line for sky diving, goes gaga over Harley Davidson and loves speed. Shibani has managed to do all that without getting her dress dirty. Presenting to you our Filter girl for November, Shibani Dandekar, our new guru for what’s hit, what’s happening and what’s hot this season. The girl who is slightly competitive, equal parts naughty and coy promises to give us all the grooming that we might need this month, not that we need any but aah well.

Whether, it is best gadgets, latest automobile, rocking hot spots, taking adventure sports to extreme sports, or the most romantic places to propose our girl, she knows it all the ways to make our life worth living and that too on the edge.

Oh and she is also the new hotter version of the Agony Aunt giving tips about what women want for a new show on telly. “The basic problem in relationship is that people don’t work on each other’s positives. Life can be much simpler if we understand what both men and women bring to a relationship and accepting it. But for that you need to talk,” she says.

And while she says it she just happens be strumming an electric guitar. She is a member of an all-girl, all-sister band called DMajor with sisters Anusha (yeah the MTV VJ) and Apeksha.

The girls have been singing at such a young age that when they were born the joke was, they crooned instead of crying. And as they hopped from their home town Pune to Africa to Australia, USA, UK and came back to India they picked the best sounds from everywhere, incorporating Pop, Indian Classical, R&B & Rock, to create a signature sound which is a cultural exchange between world’s most eclectic hubs.

But this revelation takes the cake. She is single. Yes. How is that possible we mull. Is it that feminist thing that I don’t need a man or something? “Oh… no. It is not that I haven’t been in relationships or I don’t need men. It is about finding the right one you know,” she adds.

“But I can help you there by telling my kinda right guy though,” she says. “It’s the one who can talk and make some interesting banter. It is difficult to hold my attention but once you do it, you are the guy. Of course there needs to be a physical attraction but ultimately it all boils down to the mental connect. You can be one if you have great sense of humour, are real, honest with family values. A natural who does not have to try too hard to impress me, you know,” she says.

Phew…. was that suppose to help? Really? That was actually a long list there, we complain. But here is a breather. The best part is even if she has been globe-trotting, meeting, she finds Indian men-- The Best.

So much so that when we became a little forgiving and asked about one negative thing about us, she could not come with even after hours of brain-storming. “I love the values the Indian men and there family values. Wherever you go you don’t really find it,” says Shibani.

Shibani is the host of Men 2.0 which airs Wednesdays 9 pm on AXN.
