Super Villains of the 2000s

The hero with the shades of gray was fun for a bit, but it’s the villains who are kicking ass. We do a roundup of villains of the ‘00s and Kaal.
Electro, The Amazing Spiderman 2 (2014)
Time to stop pining over Tobey Maguire having been given the boot. Jamie Foxx is all set to be one of the best Spiderman villains ever. True, the movie will also have Rhino and Green Goblin, but a villain who can manipulate electricity is by far more exciting than one who has the power of a slow lumbering mammal. Played by Jamie Foxx.

Bane, The Dark Knight Rises (2013)
The larger cannon says that it’s tough to beat Heath Ledger’s Joker, but Bane is smashingly impressive, so impressive that he makes you appreciate the manner in which Batman is downplayed in the film. Played by Tom Hardy.
Green Goblin, Spiderman (2002)
One of the few villains on the list who is taken seriously despite wearing a green skin-tight suit and riding around on a gliding skateboard, which is significant. Goblin must eliminate Spiderman to continue with his villainous deeds. Even if he wouldn’t have worn an evil suit. As for the new Spider Man movies, Dafoe kicks ass. Franco doesn’t. Period. Played by Willem Dafoe.
Dr. Octopus, Spiderman 2 (2004)
This cigar smoking intelligent scientist who develops one limb too many for a mammal and is perhaps the best portrayal of a good man gone evil. Played by Alfred Molina.

Dr. Doom, Fantastic Four (2005)
The film lacks novelty, but is still worth watching, not just because Jessica Alba can freeze anything she sets her mind to, but primarily because of the Dr. Doom, playing the clichéd masked villain to the N. Played by Julian McMahon.
Mandarin, Iron Man (2013)
He might have been a stooge, but till such time as you don’t realise that he is one, Mandarin continues to be one of our favourite villains followed very closely by Mickey Rourke’s Ivan Vanko. Mandrin wins because it’s the only one on the list played by a knighted actor. Played by Ben Kingsley.
Kaal, Krrish 3 (2013)
We still don’t know why anyone would cast him as a villain, or for that matter, cast him at all. His dialogue delivery is so bad that he makes even Kangana Ranaut look promising. Played by Vivek Oberoi.
