The battle between Protagonist and Antagonist

My parent taught me that good will always win, it will at all times feat over sin. Fight between the forces of good and evil, and the ultimate triumph of good over the evil, is the indispensable thesis of Ramayana. Now you might have understood why I’m saying all this here.

The good guy and the bad guy. Heroes and villains. The protagonist and the antagonist. Every author knows they need them. Victorious stories always seem to feature heroic good guys locked in splendid vivid fight with wicked bad guys.

We’re all the time so fascinated by the enmity between the hero and the villain that unified bitterness that makes the amalgamation of the characters in a narrative more than just the summation of their combined parts.

In this article, we’re going to look at what makes these heroes and villains so appealing. All the protagonists and antagonists of this story are persuasive and appealing characters. Here are the four greatest hero/villain rivalries.

Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty

I have always been a passionate admirer of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s superb series of stories unfolding the exploits of Sherlock Holmes. But in the BBC series, there's no doubt that Benedict Cumberbatch's is a serious hit with the ladies and the gentlemen, and also anyone with a throb. ‘The Final Problem’ was a strange Holmes story. There was no mystery or secrecy involved. Most of the narrative involved Holmes and Watson travelling across Europe to escape the revenge of Professor James Moriarty. Those who are not aware of the Holmes literary canon might be amazed to discover that Moriarty was created exclusively for the intention of presenting an antagonist worthy of Holmes’ last case. Fans of following Holmes books, movies, and TV series who have relished the intellectual rapier thrusts exchanged between the famous consulting detective and the “Napoleon of Crime” are thankful to Doyle’s frustration with Holmes for the formation of his gleaming opposite.

Batman and the Joker

Do you know what exactly makes Christopher Nolans’ film ‘The Black Knight’ so convincing? Critics have the same opinion: Nolan strikes a profound harmony with his depiction of the rivalrous bond between the Batman and his arch-rival, the Joker. We will always commit to memory the fierce enmity between the Batman and the Joker played by Christian Bale & Heath Ledger respectively. Though there were many scenes, the iconic interrogation scene remains as one of the all-time greatest superhero movie conflicts. Heath Ledger’s Joker has become a cult character. His depiction of the Joker is ultimate and will remain uncontested for years to come. The method actor Heath Ledger became known for his strong immersion into the character’s (he played) and nothing exemplifies it than the strong interrogation scene from this movie.

Thor and Loki

To us sheer mortals, sibling enmity is part and parcel of being in a family and speaking from experience, managing it is similar to motivated for world peace. The Marvel Universe is full of jealousy. In a world packed with influential heroes, there's always a potent villain to battle them and test their power. But no rivalry between a hero and a villain has been as fierce as that of two Asgardian warriors. The story of Thor and Loki ranges all the way back to the commencement of Norse Mythology, as both personalities were influential deities in Norse history. As Loki grew to maturity, his natural talent for causing mischief would make itself manifest and earned him a nickname as the ‘God of Lies and Mischief’; his mischievousness eventually became malice as his hunger for power and revenge grew stronger. Several times he tried to use tricks to get rid of Thor, like telling him to guard a hole in the wall he had made.

Xavier and Magneto

The intricate companionship and enmity between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto, has shaped the spirit of Fox’s X-Men franchise for the past years. They are mirrors of one another, reflecting two sides of a thoughtful debate about humanity and mutant kind that frequently erupts into physical conflict. Hitherto, after battles, incarceration and even death, their relationship endures.
