The Greatest: Prime Video's Muhammad Ali series lands all eight episodes on 4 November
Prime Video's authorised Muhammad Ali drama The Greatest, starring Jaalen Best, follows the young Cassius Clay from the 1960 Rome Olympics to his 1964 title win over Sonny Liston. All eight episodes stream from 4 November.

Float like a butterfly, binge like a champion. The Greatest, Prime Video's eight-part drama on the making of Muhammad Ali, drops all its episodes at once on 4 November 2026, in more than 240 countries and territories, India included. Amazon calls it the first authorised scripted series on Ali's life, and the paperwork backs that up: his widow, Lonnie Ali, is an executive producer.
Jaalen Best plays the young Cassius Clay, and the show follows him out of Louisville, Kentucky, and into the history books. If your idea of Ali begins and ends with Will Smith in a robe, this one starts much earlier.

What the series actually covers
Season one is an origin story. It runs from the 1960 Rome Olympics, where a teenage Clay won gold, to his 1964 world heavyweight title win over Sonny Liston. That same year he converted to Islam and took the name Muhammad Ali, and the series follows that change too. Outside the ring, it looks at Ali as a son, a brother, a husband and a father, and at the political forces around him, including his friendship with Malcolm X.
That timeline is the clever bit. Michael Mann's 2001 film Ali began at the Liston fight and ended at the Rumble in the Jungle against George Foreman in 1974. It skipped the childhood and the Olympic years entirely. The Week points out that a two-to-three-hour film has to squeeze the personal relationships, while eight episodes give them room to breathe. So The Greatest takes the chapter the movies rushed past.

Who is in the corner
The cast list reads like a fight card:
- Jaalen Best as Cassius Clay / Muhammad Ali
- Omari Hardwick as Cassius Clay Sr.
- Dana Gourrier as Odessa "Bird" Clay
- Kai Parham as Rudy Clay, later Rahaman Ali
- Amin Joseph as Sonny Liston
- Giovanni Ribisi as trainer Angelo Dundee
- Michael Ealy as Malcolm X
Behind the camera, Ben Watkins is the creator, showrunner and an executive producer, through his Blue Monday Productions. Michael B. Jordan produces through Outlier Society. Jay-Z's Roc Nation, Authentic Studios, PolyGram Entertainment and Grace: A Storytelling Company are also on board, with Amazon MGM Studios making the show.
How to watch it in India
It's simple. The Greatest is a Prime Video exclusive, so you need a Prime Video subscription. All eight episodes arrive together on 4 November, so there's no waiting for weekly drops. Clear a weekend, keep the mobile charged and pace yourself, or don't. The trailer and key art came out in mid-October, so if you want a taste first, the trailer is on Prime Video's official channels.
Ali means something to Indian sports fans that goes beyond boxing. His one-liners still turn up in gym playlists, and his refusal to back down outside the ring is still quoted whenever an athlete takes a stand. With Indian boxing growing in recent years, a proper, estate-approved look at how a skinny Kentucky kid became the most famous man on earth is good timing.
The FHM take
Biopics usually fail in one of two ways: they play the greatest hits, or they get so careful with the legacy that the man vanishes. Starting before the legend, back when Clay was a loud, gifted kid with something to prove, gives this series a real shot at avoiding both. Jaalen Best has huge gloves to fill, but the supporting cast is heavyweight, and eight hours is enough to show the man, not just the myth. We're blocking out the weekend.
