What the hell is a Wasp Cracker?

Are you craving for those sweet, soft, chocolate chip cookies stuffed with chocolate fudge filling! Wanna have some? But I’ll replace those choccy chips with some winged insects. And what comes out is some strange, bizarre, weird, creepy, disturbing Wasp Crackers. To cut a long story short, it’s a biscuit filled with wasps. Although, this might look frightening, these crackers are very real.
It’s a senbei, which is a Japanese style of rice cracker that in this instance has had a bunch of wasps added to it for flavor or health or something. I don’t know!

Elderly wasp hunters lay traps around the nearby countryside to catch the wasps.
They are then boiled in water (very hot water, to get rid of their smells and make them dead 100%), dried and then added to the rice cracker mix.

The mix is then stamped in a hot iron cracker cutter. You can simply find them at local markets or at selected gourmet stores in Japan.
As per to convinced sources, wasps contain the highest percentage of protein of any edible insect – 81 percent to be exact.
Though the crackers smelled of tropical fish food, the outcome was that they were outlandishly ok, like burnt raisins, apart from when a few body parts got stuck in his mouth…yuck!
