Pathaan is making headlines once again as it will be the first film to screen in Kashmir after opening new theatres. Read to know the place
Kashmir is well-known for its beautiful locations, views, and films shot in those locations. After shooting several films in the locals of Kashmir for several decades, Kashmir has opened two new theatres for the people residing there and Pathaan will be the first film that will be going to screened in the theatres.
After the rise of militancy in 1990, theatres in the state were shut down, and things got improved last year after INOX opened the first-ever multiplex in Jammu & Kashmir’s Srinagar on 20th September 2022.
Lieutenant Governor of the State Manoj Sinha inaugurated this multipurpose Cinema Hall, located in Pulwama and Shopian districts. Jadooz Media Solution Private Limited is managing these Cinema Halls.
Similarly, on July 14, Manoj Sinha inaugurated two more multipurpose Cinema Halls. One is located in ‘Baramulla’ and the second multiplex is located in ‘Handwara’.
Just like the Pulwama and Shopian Theatre, these newly opened theatres will also be managed by Jadooz Media Solutions Pvt. Ltd. The theatres will have Café, Conference, and Seminar facilities. Reports stated that, Both the theatres in Baramulla and Handwara will have accommodation of total 100 seats.
These two theatres will start by screening Pathaan (the most popular film of 2023), starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, and become the first film to play in these two new theatres of Baramulla and Handwara.
The inauguration video of theatres is circulating around the media, and in the video, you can easily see the posters of Shah Rukh’s Pathaan. Along with Pathaan, the poster of Jawan and Deol’s Gadar 2 can also be seen in the video which indicates that the other two anticipated movies of 2023 will also be screened in these theatres.
The government’s idea behind opening cinema halls in Kashmir is to expand entertainment options (apart from tourism) in the state and send a message of normalcy after the removal of Article 370 from Kashmir in August 2019.
Before Pathaan, Ram Charan & Junior NTR ‘RRR’ was the first film to get a screening in Kashmir after nearly three decades in theatres of Pulwama and Shopian followed by Aamir Khan ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ which inaugurated the INOX Srinagar.
On the other hand, Pathaan is also set to release in Japan on September 01, 2023. Posters are also unveiled by the makers of the film.
Let us tell you, there are many Hindi movies which were shot in Kashmir. Those films are Mission Kashmir (2000), Haider (2014), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), Fitoor (2016), Pukar (2000), Raazi (2018), Sita Ramam (2022), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), Shershaah (2021), Notebook (2019), and the list goes on.
