Hardik Pandya Ruled Out from World Cup 2023, ICC Confirmed.

After getting an ankle injury while playing against Bangladesh, India’s All-rounder Hardik Pandya was ruled out from World Cup 2023.

India allrounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ODI World Cup due to an ankle injury he suffered against Bangladesh on October 19. This news has come as a nightmare for all the cricket fans as India is just matches away from the finals. Meanwhile, in his replacement for further matches, team management has named Prasidh Krishna after the changes approved by the World Cup Technical Committee on Saturday.

30-year-old Hardik Pandya hurt his ankle while bowling against Bangladesh during their 4th match in the ODI World Cup 2023 in Pune, Maharashtra. Due to injury, he wasn’t able to take part in the other three winning matches against New Zealand, England, and Sri Lanka.

Speaking of Prasidh Krishna, the lanky fast bowler from Karnataka who has played in 17 One-Day Internationals for India, he has claimed 29 wickets at an economy rate of 5.60, including two four-wicket hauls. Following Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, and Mohammed Siraj, he will be the fifth bowling option in the bowler team.

The BCCI and the team management were positive that Hardik, who has since been undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the NCA, would be fit for the semifinals, which India qualified for on Thursday, but it has now emerged that Hardik has failed to recover in time to be a part of the remaining matches which includes a match against South Africa, Netherlands, and Semi-Finals.

When a ligament rupture was taken into consideration, Hardik’s injury—which was first thought to be little more than an ankle sprain—took a catastrophic turn. But because it was a Grade 1 injury, a 10-to 15-day recovery period was anticipated. It turns out that Hardik’s injury sustained more damage than initially believed.

The news is likely to be devastating for India since, in addition to his bat prowess in his finishing role, Hardik’s availability as the team’s sixth bowling option provided the ideal counterbalance. India has substituted Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav in their XI, a move that has and is expected to further compensate for Pandya’s absence.

With seven consecutive wins, India has become the first team to qualify for the Semifinals in the World Cup 2023 following their 302-run win against Sri Lanka on Thursday. Their next match against South Africa is scheduled for Sunday, i.e., tomorrow in Kolkata’s Eden Garden Stadium. This match will decide which team finishes top of the points table before they play their final league fixture against the Netherlands in Bengaluru on November 12.
