Fans Remember Legendary Singer KK On His 1st Death Anniversary

We lost the singing legend Krishnakumar Kunnath aka KK due to a heart attack 12 months ago. Let’s take a look back at his 25 years long music career.

Whether it’s a farewell party or falling in love, no occasion is complete without Krishnakumar Kunnath famously known as KK’s songs. On 31 May, we lost this gem forever. It’s already been 12 months since when the singer died. KK was performing at an event in Kolkata when he suddenly felt unwell during his performance. He was taken to the CMRI hospital, where he was declared dead due to a heart attack.

His sudden demise shocked the entire nation and devastated his fans. His songs still feel like a breath of fresh air in the midst of hectic life. Our entire generation grew up listening to his songs, and still, his voice works like magic. Some of his songs such as Yaaron Dosti (1999) make us feel nostalgic. KK rules our hearts with his magical voice for 25 years. 

Today, on the first death anniversary of the singing legend KK, many of his Bollywood friends and fans remember him and share their priceless memories with him such as Bollywood singer Shaan, who was a close friend to KK, shared that “He was like a family to him. They had some of their best times together while recording and performing the song. When he heard the news of KK’s death, he couldn’t believe that. He thought its some kind of prank. But, when the reality hits, he was shattered.” Shaan added that “he was not a very social person. He never drinks and smokes. So, it’s simply unbelievable to him that he suffered from a heart attack.”

Singer Shaan has sung around 25 songs with KK and said that he was his lucky charm. KK was the first from his batch, who moved to the city and become an accomplished singer.

Iconic singer Kailash Kher also remembers KK and said he inspired the youth with his songs. When someone like KK passes away at the age of 53, it’s not just his family but also affected his fans. Many other famous celebrities shared their memory with him.

90’s born generation transitioned from cassettes, CDs, and walkman to online streaming youtube, Spotify and other music apps but one thing remains the same that is KK’s songs in our playlists and hearts. The singer belongs from Kerala. He was born on 23 August 1968 in a Malayali family and he grew up in Delhi.

The singer sang 3500 jingles before stepping foot into Bollywood. He made his debut in Bollywood with the “Tadap Tadap Ke Iss Dil Se” from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999). From then he never looked back. Over the years, the iconic singer sang several songs in different languages including, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese and so on. He even sang several tracks for Television series such as Shaka Laka Boom Boom, Kuch Jhuki si Palkein, KKavyanajli and many more.
