One of the prestigious awards for the entertainment industry is here! The 69th National Film Awards winner’s list was announced by the jury at the National Media Centre, Delhi. The list was announced live-streamed on the Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) YouTube and Facebook accounts on Thursday. The jury members of the National Film Awards handed over the winner’s list to the Union Minister of I&B Anurag Thakur. A total of 280 feature films from 28 languages and 150 non-feature films in 23 languages were submitted for the awards.

This year many Bollywood movies have been nominated for national film awards such as Vicky Kaushal starrer “Sardar Udham”, bagged five national awards in different categories. The movie was directed by Shoojit Sircar. The filmmaker dedicated this award to his late friend and actor Irrfan Khan, who was supposed to play the role of the freedom fighter Udham Singh. The movie received awards in 5 categories: Best Hindi Film, Best Audiography, Best Costume Designer, Best Production Design, and Best Cinematography. Vicky Kaushal took to Instagram to share this good news with his followers.

In addition, Kriti Sanon starrer “Mimi” movie and Alia Bhatt starrer “Gangubai Kathiawadi” won the National Awards. They both shared the Best Actress award. Kriti took to Instagram and shared the sweet note. In the note, she mentioned this proud moment, she also said Thanks to the jury who considered her performance in Mimi worthy of this prestigious award. Then she mentioned the director of the film Laxman Utekar and recalled “He told her that she would get a National Award for this film”. Pankaj Tripathi won the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in Mimi.

Moreover, Allu Arjun also won the National Award for Best Actor for his power-packed performance in “Pushpa: The Rise” and became the first-ever Telugu actor to do so. R Madhavan starrer “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” and Anupam Kher starrer “The Kashmir Files” won Best Feature Film and Best Film on National Integration respectively. This year, a special jury award went to Siddharth Malhotra starrer “Shershaah”. 

Notably, SS Rajamouli’s “RRR” won another prestigious award. The movie bagged National Film Awards in several categories: Best Music Direction, Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Special Effects, and Best Choreography. The 69th National Film Awards event will be held on 24 August 2023.
