HOT JUST GOT HOTTER!

Vaani & Gadgets

Hey hottie, what’s your relationship with technology?

I’m not very strong in many aspects of technology except for my phone. The weird thing is that I’m always fascinated to new types of technology and I’m enthralled by the different capabilities of technology, but never take time to actually learn how to use them. I just admire the technology. Everyone has diverse strengths concerning technology and to the people, who are very comfy with it, more power to them! But I’m not a gadget chic (hehe).

Three gadgets you can’t live without?

Mobile phone: It’s the 4th basic necessity in life. I’m in love my phone.
Laptop: My laptop is a must have.
Headphones: I really love listening to music and I cannot do without my headphones.

The best tech gift you’ve ever received?

My parents always used to gift me smart phones, but I was very terrible with them, I used to drop it somewhere or lose it, break it. I was so clumsy and bad. I don’t know why (hehe).

How many times per day do you check your phone?

Honestly, I don’t think it’s possible to keep track.

If given a chance to endorse a tech product, what would it be?

I would go for an auto endorsement which should be fully equipped with the latest technology.

Most frequently used apps in your phone?

WhatsApp, Instagram, and FaceTime.

Are you a selfie addict?

Nooooooo!

Boys, Affairs & More

Vaani, let’s talk about boys. What is the first thing you notice in them?

Their dressing sense and body language.

What about checking out a man’s ass?

(Hehe) That’s not the first thing. I don’t like looking behind and checking their ass. That is definitely not one of the first things that I check out. It’s something eventually you do (hehe).

What should your ideal man be like?

I just hope he and I can connect well. I know I’m sounding very conventional but my man should be compassionate and passionate.

What physical traits do you find attractive?

It’s nothing that I’m looking for this inch ass or something. I’m not an ass freaky girl (laughs).

But if your partner isn’t too fit, is that a problem?

A person who is fit is capable of living life to its fullest extent. But I would want my man to be fit and healthy both.

How important is romance for you?

It’s fun, it’s exciting. It makes you feel good. It’s important to have small actions that convey affection, adoration, thoughtfulness, and love. I want my special person to be around me and make me feel happy.

What makes you feel loved?

Those small little gestures when I need someone, I don’t even have to voice it out but the person can just feel it and be there for me.

What’s your take on live-in relationships?

Yeah, why not. It’s a personal choice. If you guys are okay and want to stay together, go for it. I’ve never been in one though and for me it will be a big step. Loyalty is very important for me. At the same time, I also believe in marriage and that is something I really want.

I played a young independent woman in Shudh Desi Romance and in the next; I pulled off a boundless woman living her life on her own terms.

The Boisterous Punjabi Girl

What did you have to unlearn and learn to make the transition from modelling to acting?

Undoubtedly, modelling and acting are different arts. But for being diverse they are actually alike in many ways. Modelling helped me face the camera better and how to be comfortable with your body. It has helped me build my confidence. And if you are confident, you perform better. It helped me to open up as an actor and shed my inhibitions. I guess there is a lot that you learn. Acting is a nonstop learning process. But I don’t think if I had to unlearn anything.

If you had to imbibe one trait each of Shyra (from Befikre) and Tara (from Shudh Desi Romance) in real life, what would that be?

I played a young independent woman in Shudh Desi Romance and in the next; I pulled off a boundless woman living her life on her own terms. Both the characters were youthful. Shyra was a very free spirited girl; she was very flamboyant and outgoing. I’m very different from this. But I have open up as a person in this whole process of enacting her. It wasn’t very easy to get into the skin of Shyra. It was more about getting her body language, her thought process, the way she talks, her energy, her outlook and how she dresses up, everything right. On the other hand my character Tara in Shudh Desi Romance had a lot of patience; I want to be like her. But I’m closer to the character of Shyra as I feel more inspired. I had to work a lot on how to get Shyra’s body language absolutely right.

Weren’t you counted as the badass girl after you did Befikre because of the innumerable kissing scenes?

I’m very normal in my head. I’m also someone who has grown up watching lots of Hollywood films. I’m kind of immune to them. I understand that you are a professional and it is part of your job. I just performed it like any other scene in the film.

I know I’m sounding very conventional but my man should be compassionate and passionate.

Not to mention, your sizzling chemistry with Ranveer Singh was evident.

Thank you!

How do you deal with crazy fans?

It’s very overwhelming. Fans are always giving so much love and support. It’s always nice to see fans showering their love.

Since you have been promoted well in the south as well – after doing the remake of Band Baja Baraat, did you get any offers there?

Yeah, you get offers, but then I don’t talk about those offers which I didn’t take.

Cool, but at least you can tell us about your upcoming projects?

Hopefully, we will make the announcement soon.

Any plans for chasing Hollywood dreams?

Every day you end up having a new dream. Right now I’m focussing on Hindi cinema but if there’s work that takes me in Hollywood or in any other cinema, I’m ready for it.

Who would you like to work with from Bollywood and Hollywood?

Leonardo (DiCaprio) from Hollywood and yes Meryl Streep as well, she is a senior actress and I would loveeeeee to work with her. In Hindi cinema also I would like to work with Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. I’ve grown up watching Shahrukh’s movies, so I would love to do a film with him where we can share the screen.

Vaani Kapoor

Yeah, you get offers, but then I don’t talk about those offers which I didn’t take.

How do you take criticism?

A blissful life and a satisfying career necessitate individual growth, and understanding criticism is essential to individual growth. Criticism is everywhere so I try to use it to my advantage. I’m a very self critical girl. I’m open to criticism but it has to be constructive criticism.

Any regrets in life?

No, I don’t have any regrets. I’m the kind of person who takes responsibility for everything and deals with it. I learn from everything I do. I work very hard. I don’t really have any regrets.

One thing that brings a smile on your face?

Good food. I’m a big foodie and I’m proud (hehe).

One thing is for sure, you are an amazing dancer, how were you introduced to dance?

I’ve never had any professional training when it comes to dancing, except for Kathak (dance) that I did in school. As a kid, I’ve always been fond of dancing.

Do your parents still have control over you?

All through my childhood, I and my sister were overly protected. I cannot thank them enough for all the support and love they have given me. They have encouraged me to continue to strive to be the best version of myself every day. They are happy that I’m more confident and I can handle my life quite well.
