Finally, Farhan Akhtar has put all the speculations to rest around the third film in the Don franchise. On August 08, the filmmaker (Farhan Akhtar) announced Don 3. He shared a teaser announcing the film on social media. The announcement video featured the words, “A New Era Begins”. With this, it also confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan will not reprise his role in the threequel.
On Tuesday, Farhan posted a teaser video for an announcement on his social media accounts. His post had no caption, but the teaser spoke for itself. It highlighted the number ‘3’ that was printed in the screen’s centre. The figure’s typography and design seem uncannily familiar. If there were any unturned stones, the background music resembled a slight remix of “Main Hoon Don,” the theme song from the film Don.
The phrase “A New Era Begins” caught the internet’s attention as well. Then, franchise followers began to question if it meant Shah Rukh wouldn’t play the lead role in the threequel. Later, today Farhan Akhtar shared a new video on his Social and confirms Ranveer Singh has been hired to play the new Don.
Yesterday, A few hours later, Farhan released a lengthy message on Twitter confirming that a new actor will carry on Don’s legacy. I’ve always admired the brilliance and range of the actor who will be joining us in this new version. The note ends with, “We hope that you will love him (the new actor who will replace SRK) as gently and generously as you have loved Mr. Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
For those who don’t know, Don was first made with Amitabh Bachchan as the lead in 1978 which was directed by Chandra Barot, and the story was written by Salim Khan and Farhan Akhtar. Earlier in 2006, Farhan Akhter (son of Javed Akhtar) reprised the character of Don with Shah Rukh Khan which becomes an instantly hit at the box office. The film caught so much popularity that it ends up making part 2 again with Shah Rukh Khan.
People were waiting for Don 3 for so long and today when the makers of the Don Franchise announced the film, and today when they confirm the presence of Ranveer Singh, the internet is not happy with the announcement because rumors turned true that Ranveer Singh will replace Shah Rukh Khan in Don 3.
As soon as Excel Entertainment dropped the announcement video, Netizens started reacting to the post. Fans who are emotionally attached to the Don Franchise brutally trolling the makers and want Shah Rukh Khan in the new part of the movie.
Don 3 will produce by Ritesh Sidhwani, Shibani Dandekar (wife of Farhan Akhtar), and Excel Entertainment and will be directed by Dil Chahta Hain director Farhan Akhtar. The movie will go on the floor in 2025 with a new star cast.
