Five films to watch: Katti Batti, Welcome Back, The Transporter Refueled, Rudhramadevi and Hero

Katti Batti is an anti-love story starring Imran Khan as Madhav Kabra (Maddy) and Kangana Ranaut as Payal. Maddy is an architect who is in love with Payal because of her attitude towards life. The story revolves around Maddy and Payal’s live-in relationship of five years until Payal leaves Maddy mid-way in a sudden turn of events! The Nikhil Advani movie is being touted as the Indian version of Friends With Benefits. With Kangana Ranaut doing nothing wrong these days, expect another power-packed performance from the reigning queen of Bollywood. Out on September 18.

02 Welcome Back (Comedy)

Five films to watch: Katti Batti, Welcome Back, The Transporter Refueled, Rudhramadevi and Hero

Sequel to the 2007 hit, Welcome, Welcome Back features an ensemble cast of Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and Paresh Rawal reprising their roles. John Abraham and Shruti Haasan have replaced Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif this time. Uday Bhai and Majnu Bhai, once again on a spree to get their sister married in a good family (a little overdone, isn’t it?), meet gangster Ajay/Ajju Bhai and things turn hilarious with every turn of events. Naseeruddin Shah has also joined the cast as Wanted Bhai, replacing Feroz Khan from the first part. John’s comic timing has certainly improved, but with other stalwarts present already, replacing Akshay will be a daunting task for him. Out on September 04.

03 The Transporter Refueled (Action)

Five films to watch: Katti Batti, Welcome Back, The Transporter Refueled, Rudhramadevi and Hero

From the producers of Lucy and the Taken trilogy, comes The Transporter Refueled, a fresh personification of the iconic role of Frank Martin, launching him into the present day and reinvigorating the high-octane franchise into the next generation. Frank Martin, played by newcomer Ed Skrein, a former special-ops mercenary, is now living a less perilous life, or so he thinks, as an independent agent contracted to transport classified packages for questionable people. Remember Daario Naharis from Game of Thrones? Ed Skrein might’ve shed the long locks, but his charm remains the same. But, will he be able to replace Jason Statham? Out on September 04.

04 Rudhramadevi (Historical/Drama)

Five films to watch: Katti Batti, Welcome Back, The Transporter Refueled, Rudhramadevi and Hero

After the huge success of Bahubali, comes yet another historical Telugu movie, Rudhramadevi. Anushka Shetty will be playing the role of 13th century queen, Rudrama Devi of the Kakatiya dynasty, in this epic 3D movie by Gunasekhar. Dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam, the director is leaving no stones unturned to make it a national film. Interestingly, Priyanka Chopra and Nayanthara were considered for the lead role but finally Anushka bagged it. Rana Daggubati will also be portraying a role in this epic drama. Out on September 04.

05 Hero (Romance)

A 21-year-old daughter of a formidable police chief falls in love with a roadside romeo. What happens next is for everyone to guess. A lot of drama, romance, fight with love eventually triumphing! The remake of 1983 film of the same name starring Jackie Shroff, Hero marks the debut of two star kids. Aditya Pancholi’s son Sooraj and Suneil Shetty’s daughter Athiya will be seen romancing each other. Filmed under the banner of Salman Khan Films, Sallu bhai’s blessings are enough to give the movie the required mileage. Out on September 11.
