Raj & DK’s Farzi Becomes The Most-Watched Indian Web Series Of All time

Farzi fever is still high. It surpasses the crime-thriller drama Mirzapur 2 and becomes the most-watched Prime original web series in India.

After the huge success of Family Man, Raj & DK’s directed black-comedy crime thriller series Farzi also achieved a new milestone. This series marked Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi’s OTT debut. Farzi series has become the most-watched original web series of all time and registered a record of 37.1 million viewers. This series was recently released on Amazon prime on 10 Feb 2023. It features smart street-artist Sunny (Shahid Kapoor) and passionate cop Michael (Vijay Sethupathi).

Ormax media conducted a survey and it shows Raj & DK’s Farzi took the first spot in the list of most-watched original subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) series in India. It surpasses Ajay Devgan starrer Rudra (35.2 million viewers) streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar, Pankaj Tripathi starrer Mirzapur 2 (32.5 million viewers) streaming on Amazon Prime, Jeetendra Kumar starrer Panchayat (29.6 million viewers) streaming on Prime Video, Pankaj Tripathi starrer Criminal Justice (29.1 million viewers) streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar and Aditya Roy Kapur starrer The Night Manager (27.2 million viewers) streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar.

The Ormax media calculated the audience viewership by taking into prime account the number of people who viewed at least once the complete episode of the series or at least 30 mins of a series within eight weeks of release. They doesn’t count the repeat views. This news was shared by Farzi makers and actors through social media. Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor took to his social media account and shared the post of Ormax media and viewership estimates in million and wrote in the caption “Farzi Fever…Thank you all so much” red heart emoji.

Farzi series also stars Kay Kay Menon, Raashi Khanna, Zakir Hussain, Amol Palekar, Regina Cassandra, Kubbra Sait, and Bhuvan Arora. When it was released on prime video, the series got mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Farzi series is written by Sita Menon, Raj and DK, and Suman Kumar and produced by Raj & DK. 

The story of this series is about counterfeit money and is set around Sunny (Shahid Kapoor) who lives in Mumbai and is a brilliant artist and makes a perfect copy of any art. He has no family other than his Nanu (Amol Palekar) and his best friend Firoz (Bhuvan Arora). Sunny wanted to get rich at any cost and one day in a desperate need to save his Nanu revolutionary printing press, he started an unlawful business to design fake notes and seldomly he started getting into more depth of the criminal world.

On the other hand, Michael (Vijay Sethupathi) is a fiery and passionate cop who wanted to catch this artist to save the economy. This cat-and-mouse race where losing is not an option is worth watching.
