Why does the Salaar Trailer Fail to Impress the Audience?

Salaar directed by Prashanth Neel, will be released on December 22, starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jagapati Babu, and Shruti Hassan.

On December 01, the makers of Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire dropped the trailer for Salaar on the YouTube channel of Hombale Films. The film is from the production house that gave us movies like KGF: Chapter 1 and KGF: Chapter 2. Salaar will be released in two parts. Since the trailer was dropped, it has received mixed reactions from some sections of the audience.

Let’s find out some of the reasons why the audience did not click on the trailer for Salaar.

Reason 1: Strong background score Felt missing

The public expected the same level of excitement from the Salaar trailer because Salaar was helmed by the same production house that gave us a monster series like KGF. But it couldn’t happen. Despite having other great factors, KGF has been elevated many times just because of the background score they have made.

The composer of the music for Salaar is Ravi Basrur, who also composed the music for the KGF series. In KGF, the background music was top-notch, but on the same side in Salaar, it is looking a little flatter. Maybe the makers have a different plan; we will see some elevation in the movie.

Reason 2: Less Screen Time for Prabhas in the Salaar Trailer

Many directors use actors for the trailer who have a lot of face value in front of the audience. No doubt, Prithviraj Sukumaran is well established, but still, he doesn’t have that face value in the north part, whereas Prabhas contains a strong face in pan India, which doesn’t seem to be used in the trailer.

If you watched the trailer, you will find that most of it revolved around Prithviraj’s character, which disappointed Prabhas’ fans. Less screen time for Prabhas makes you feel that the director got the trailer cut wrong.

Reason 3: Salaar is not part of the KGF universe.

People have been anticipating Salaar’s release since its announcement on the day it was revealed. Salaar is the third movie in the Monster franchise, following KGF Parts 1 and 2. But, a few days ago, just before the release of the Salaar trailer, Prashanth Neel cleared the air and stated that Salaar is not part of the KGF franchise and requested that his audience look at Salaar as an individual film that has its own world, emotions, and characters.

He also added that initially, KGF was not two parts, but Salaar was two parts from the beginning. Its story is so big that it can make a proper 6-hour movie. Since this statement came out, people have felt heartbroken as they wanted to see two big stars of the South together.

Reason 4: Similarities in Prashanth Neel’s Storytelling

If you watched the trailer already, you will find many similarities between Salaar and KGF, which is a major drawback for the movie. In an interview with a leading news portal, Prashanth said that it does not have any relation to the KGF franchise, but upon watching the trailer, you will find similarities in the cinematography, characters that are present in the trailer, the dusty visuals, dark theme, art, and direction, which instantly remind you of the KGF.

Though Neel stated that they used Dark Centric Technology (DCT) for the first time in Indian cinema for Salaar, you will still remember KGF’s dark theme.

As per the reports, there is news that the makers of Salaar will soon release the second trailer amid the unhappy reaction from the audience. This news is not yet confirmed but speculations trending on social media.
