Netflix released the teaser of “The Archies” on Sunday. Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, and Agastya Nanda also set to make their Bollywood debut. Read on.
Zoya Akhtar directed a much-anticipated film “The Archies” teaser is out on Sunday, during Netflix’s event “Tudum” in Brazil. After seeing the trailer, it is safe to say that filmmaker Zoya Akhtar skillfully takes the audience back in time to 1964 to let them witness rock ‘n’ roll, love, friends, freedom, heartbreaks, and more. This Netflix movie is a live-action musical drama which is based on the character of a well-known American comic of the same name.
The Archies film marks the debut movie of Agastya Nanda (Archie Andrews), Suhana Khan (Veronica Lodge), Khushi Kapoor (Betty Cooper), Mihir Ahuja (Jughead Jones), Vedang Raina (Reggie Mantle), Dot (Ethel Muggs), and Yuvraj Menda (Dilton Doiley).
The 1-minute teaser was unveiled at the Tudum event in Sao Paulo, Brazil in front of over 10,000 cheering voices
The movie is a coming-of-age story set in Riverdale, a fictional hill station. The teaser began with a toy train entering the Riverdale station as few cars and horses were seen on the road. The story is set in the year 1964, based on a group of friends, and their lives. The movie will explore friendships, love, freedom, music, dance, and heartbreaks.
The teaser shows, in the town, there is a shop named ‘Pop Tate’s’, where Archie and his band members spend time. Archie’s band group play music and dances at parties and at classrooms and enjoys life to the fullest. Then, we got a glimpse of Agastya Nanda, Suhana Khan, and Khushi Kapoor, are in a love triangle and going through heartbreaks.
We also got a glimpse of Vedang Raina, Yuvraj Menda, Mihir Ahuja, and Dot in pivotal roles. Netflix India took to Instagram and shared the post of the film. It wrote, “The Archies build the world that is both familiar and new.”
The fans are very excited to watch this movie. Which is totally new concept with a fresh ensemble of cast. One of the fans wrote “a really needed throwback for 90’s generation’. Another one wrote “so many beautiful people, don’t who to look at first”. Another one commented “Suhana Khan literally fits in her role”. One other wrote, “it’s a major throwback for Archies fans.”
The entire cast of Archies attended the Netflix event Tudum, where they perform the movie’s first song “Sunoh”, and received well by the audience. It was a star-studded event, where The Archies cast met Alia Bhatt, who is part of “Heart of Stone” and also met Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Darren Barnet, who played the role of Devi and Paxton respectively in Netflix’s popular show “Never Have I Ever”.
