Ghoomer falls under the Sports-drama genre which follows a story of a paraplegic sportsperson played by Saiyami Kher. She is tutored by Abhishek Bachchan’s character and is an excellent cricket player. The film was directed by R. Balki who is better known for his emotionally charged narratives which they showed earlier through his critically acclaimed films. The film also stars Angad Bedi and Shabana Azmi in the crucial roles respectively.

In the joint statement given by actor Abhishek Bachchan and director R. Balki, they said, “The fact that Ghoomer will open the IFFM is truly an honour and a joy for us. The story of Ghoomer shows how to use misfortune to your advantage. A tale of ingenuity in the face of extinction. Ghoomer pays homage to both the sport and the reservoir of human fortitude.”
