Sometimes, cameos came as a tiny treat in the movies. It gives some of the biggest surprises that the audience didn’t even think of. Today, it has become easy to know about the actors and their roles in the movie, but it was time that cameos came as a surprise to the viewers.
When a well-known celebrity unexpectedly graces the screen, it elevates the experience of watching the movie. These cameos inject excitement and amusement into the films they appear in, whether it’s through the reunion of well-known performers or a shocking narrative twist. So, look at some iconic cameos you will love to watch multiple times.
Irrfan Khan in Haider
In Vishal Bharadwaj’s adaptation of Hamlet set in Kashmir, Irrfan plays the ghost of Kashmir itself. An ominous soundtrack plays to vistas of an eerie, snowed-in landscape even before we see Roohdar as a guest appearance, which was not revealed till the movie was released.
The first glimpse is of a distant figure made blurrier by a deliberately out-of-focus camera before he shows up, wrapped in a white shawl with sunglasses and a topi. It was unexpected enough that a sombre movie like Haider could feature a guest star, but what was even more unexpected was that the movie included an “entry scene.” He authentically delivers the true persona of Roohdar, which significantly lifts the film production.
John Abraham in Wazir
Wazir is one of the best neo-noir action thriller films that is still considered an underrated movie in Hindi cinema. Wazir is based on the original incident and follows the story of a suspended anti-terrorism squad officer who befriends a chess player who is a wheelchair user.
With its unique plotline, the cameo of John Abraham takes the film to the next level. In this movie, you can easily see why John is called one of the best action heroes in India. John Abraham perfectly understood the assignment, and it was visible in his character.
Nawazzudin Siddiqui in New York
During the initial stage of his career, Siddiqui was part of many cameos, of which this was the most impactful performance. His two-minute cameo with the most powerful dialogue uplifts the film and tension, which was the main core of the film. In the movie, he was one of the prisoners who was interrogated by the character of Katrina Kaif.
During that time, it can happen that you have missed this scene, but the way Siddiqui acted in this film makes you watch the film again, which is really heart-touching and resonates with the pain that the character of John Abraham had to go through as a prisoner in the movie.
Surya in Vikram
Lokesh Kanagaraj is well-known for his perfect portraits of the characters. If you are familiar with the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, you will readily accept our assertion that Lokesh is among the Indian film filmmakers who possess the skill of portraying and introducing characters into mainstream media. Here is an example of the face of Surya.
When Surya as Rolex entered the climax, it brought new energy to the scene and introduced the audience to his personality. The BGM and the monologue still feel fresh in the fans’ minds of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. It will be amazing to watch the standalone movie based on the life of Rolex, which is somewhere confirmed by the makers of the LCU.
Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in Sooryavanshi
Sooryavanshi was the last successful movie with Akshay Kumar as the lead but the cameos of Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh will always be special for the film. Towards the end of the movie, when Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh entered the scene, the audience enjoyed the both comedy and action at the same time.
It was a different matter that this cameo did not create as much hype as it should have because the makers of the movie already revealed the surprise in the trailer. Sooryavanshi was released in 2021 and became the highest-grossing Hindi film after the COVID-19 pandemic.
