Shamshera Day 1 at Box Office: The Film Falls Short Of Ranbir Kapoor’s potential

With Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in central roles, here’s what Karan Malhotra’s Shamshera has to offer.

Ranbir Kapoor has made a comeback on the silver screen after almost 4 years with Shamshera, a Karan Malhotra direction that was much-awaited by the audience as they were about to experience Ranbir Kapoor’s acting skills on the big screen after Sanju, that is a 2018 affair. With Ranbir playing a double role in the film along with Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor as the main leads, here we are to tell you what this periodic drama has to offer the audience spending their time in the theatres.

Shamshera hit the screens on July 22. 

While speaking about Shamshera, Ranbir Kapoor mentioned in one of his recent interviews that this particular project allowed him to play a prototypical Hindi movie hero and shed the image of his previous contemporary movies. He also mentioned that Shamshera is a great script which made him say a yes right after giving it a read as much as Snaju and Barfi and both of them did pretty well on the big screen. However, the audience’s experience would not have been the same for Shamshera.

Talking about the plot of the story, Ranbir is playing the role of Balli, who belong to the enslaved tribe settled in the north Indian region of Kaza. While playing Balli, RK will also be playing Balli’s father Shamshera, who is the folk hero.

Ranbir Kapoor and Vaani Kapoor will be seen together for the first time on the silver screen. 

Produced by Yash Raj Films, Shamshera cannot be put on the list of extraordinary action films that inflicts a generous amount of torture on the audience who is present there to watch an expectedly great action film. Watching the movie is just an affair of stun-gun that turned out pretty cold. There are chances that you might feel dozed off in the theatre after taking a dose of utter confusion, which is exactly how the plot can be explained. Although no spoilers will be disclosed in this article, the explanation of the movie would be enough for those who know what kind of experience they want. The movie will leave you kind of clueless about what you just saw.

Sanjay Dutt will be seen playing the antagonist in the movie. 

The OG Sanjay Dutt will be seen in the character of a British-slaved policeman, Shudh Singh, who is all in to do all the nasty work for his British Officers. On the other hand, Vaani Kapoor will be seen playing the role of a dancer, who helps the protagonist to take his revenge.

The screenplay, which was created by the director of the movie, Karan Malhotra, in conjunction with Ekta Pathak Malhotra, has the appearance of an average cooked meal, which might not be great in taste. If you try to put it in other words, there is a possibility for the only interesting thing you will get to watch in Shamshera is a movie set in the other half of the 19^th century where the heroine from that era is allowed to dress up in the fabrics that are used by the modern-age millennials.
